Proven Success:

I believe that success is measured in academic improvement as well as improvement that may be less noticable, like gaining confidence in social situations, or learning how to navigate through social events. Anyway success is measured what matters is that the student becomes more capable and has the opportunity to see that capability.

I will work with you and your child to create a customized learning plan that is taylored to your childs learning ability as well as one that challenges your child to achieve more than they thought possible!

I have worked with children on the autism spectrum as well as students with learning disabilites such as dyslexia, comprehension problems and attention disorders. Each child is unique whether there is a minor issue with understanding or a more major comprehension or social issue. I have a kind approach that helps children to feel relaxed enough to learn at thier best.

Each student learns differently, whether it be visually, tacticly, or audibly, each of these senses paired with different possible environments will work for a number of students. For example creating a color coded chart or map or making a graphic organizer might be right for some children, while a more hands on activity may be more appropriate for another, while an even further possibility is that learning the information through a taped recording may be the best choice. Environment plays a role too. Does the student learn best in absolute silence, or with a bit of background noise?

Teaching Tips for Children and Adults with Autism

Good teachers helped me to achieve success. I was able to overcome autism because I had good teachers. At age 2 1/2 I was placed in a structured nursery school with experienced teachers. From an early age I was taught to have good manners and to behave at the dinner table. Children with autism need to have a structured day, and teachers who know how to be firm but gentle.
